The Cavins Mdl. 'MB' Combination Gas Anchor and Desander is an improvement upon the Cavins Mdl. 'G' and Mdl. 'MH' models. As well as a larger upper body designed to accommodate higher volumes of fluid and gas, the MB utilizes an added centrifuge separator specifically designed to separate gas nearer the inlet slots; doing so dramatically increases the gas-separating efficiency of the tool.
In addition, the Cavins "Sandtrap" Desander sub is run on the bottom of the tool. Solids are separated from the fluid and settle by gravity into joints of tubing run on the bottom of the work string as mud anchors. The clean fluid, free of most solids and gas molecules, flows up to the beam-type rod pump assembly.
The Model 'MB' separates gas and solids before either can enter the downhole pump. It is typically 17.5 feet long, though it can be custom-built to your specifications.
When ordering the tool, it is advised to inform Cavins of the dimensions of previously used "Poor Boy" gas anchors in the well.
The Model 'MB' Desanders are equipped with a funnel for extra-fine solid separation. A funnel is recommended when your well produces any kind of fine, flour, or sugar type of sand (i.e., fine formation sand, iron sulfide, etc.)
